RoHS Analysis with Skyray XRF Spectrometers
The RoHS directive took effect in 2006 and is strickly enforced in USA and other countries. RoHS directive restricts the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment. These six Hazardous materials are: Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), Cadmium (Cd), Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+), Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), Polybrominated diphenylether (PBDE). RoHS is often linked with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) 2002/96/EC which sets collection, recycling and recovery targets for electrical goods and is part of a legislative initiative to solve the problem of huge amounts of toxic electronic waste.
Acceptable concentration range as per RoHS guidelines:- Cd <100 ppm
- Cr <1000 ppm
- Hg <1000 ppm
- Pb <1000 ppm
- Br <1000 ppm
- Cl <900 ppm
