SI-PIN and Silicon Drift XRF Detectors

Si-Pin Detectors used in Skyray Instruments XRF Spectrometers consist of high performance thermoelectrically cooled Si-Pin X-ray detector and preamplifier. Utilizing 500 um Si-PIN photodiode with 0.5 mil Be window, SI-PIN detector achieves energy resolution from 145 to 200 eV FWHM and count rates below 30 kcps.
Si-Pin Detector features moderate energy resolution with moderate count rates best suitable for Desktop systems....

SDD Detectors used in Skyray Instruments XRF Spectrometers consist of thermoelectrically cooled solid-state silicon drift detector (SDD) and preamplifier. SSD Detectors provide a resolution of 125 eV FWHM at the Mn Kα line (electronic noise of 4.5 electrons rms), a peak to background of 20,000:1, an output count rate over 500 kcps, and can detect X-rays down to the Be Kα line (110 eV). It has a 25 mm2 active area and is 500 μm thick and has a 0.5 mil Be window for good efficiency above 2 keV.
SDD features small size, best energy resolution, high count rates, and lowest X-ray energies...

Fast SDD XRF Detector

FAST SDD uses a complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) preamplifier and replaces the JFET with a metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET). This significantly reduces capacitance, providing much lower series noise and yielding improved resolution at very short peaking times.

The FAST SDD® uses the same detector but with a preamplifier giving lower noise at short peaking times.Improved (lower) resolution enables isolation/separation of fluorescent X-rays with close energy values where peaks would otherwise overlap, permitting users better identification all of the elements in their sample(s). Short peaking times also yield significant improvements in count rates; more counts provide better statistics..
